Windsor firefighters have extinguished a blaze caused by an electrical fire at a highrise in Downtown Windsor.
Crews were called around 3:10pm to Royal Windsor Terrace at the corner of Park and Pelissier for reports of smoke on the building’s fifth floor.
Fire crews discovered fire in an electrical room on the fifth floor but had the fire under control within minutes. The fire was declared out around 3:45pm.
Officials say the official cause of the blaze was an accidental electrical failure on the 5th floor. The fire disabled power to the entire building.
Officials say residents are now able to return to their suites, and that there is not a mandatory evacuation. They say the building has heat in common areas as well as hot water throughout the building.
One person suffered minor injuries while evacuating the building.
