The cause will go down as undetermined after a fire at the Walkerville Evangelical Baptist Church Sunday afternoon.

The blaze broke out around 1:15pm.

Chief Fire Prevention Officer John Lee says people were in the church at the time of the blaze, but were not in the area of the origin of the fire.

Lee says the pastor of the church noticed the fire and ordered an immediate evacuation and no injuries are reported.

The fire was brought under control around 3:30pm, but not before parts of the main roof collapsed.

Fire officials say that extensive structural damage has prevented them from conducting a site investigation, but the fire appears to be accidental.

Damage is set at $1,000,000.
