The Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association is set to kick off the holiday season with its 5th annual Winter Fest on Saturday, November 19th at 3pm.
The parade’s grand marshal will be Martha Reeves, one of our region’s music icons. Known for her legendary role in shaping Motown’s celebrated history, Reeves’ classic hits include “Heat Wave”, “Jimmy Mack” and “Dancing in the Street”.
The parade will include over 45 entries and kicks off at Giles Avenue heading up Ouellette and ending at Pitt Street.
The parade includes inflatables, enchanting Chinese dragons, Elvis’ Rockin’ Sleigh Ride, the Windsor Dance eXperience, in addition to the Windsor Police Pipe Band, Windsor Youth Optimist Band, the Salvation Army Band and the Diplomats Drum & Bugle Corps.
Audiences will also be able to sample roasted chestnuts prepared by the Downtown Mission, and enjoy beaver tails – a scrumptious fried pastry shaped to resemble a beaver tail – prepared by the culinary team at St Clair College’s Centre for the Arts.
The DWIBA is also reminding youth to bring their letters to Santa as Canada Post will be there to mail them to Jolly Ole St. Nick!
