The Windsor Spitfires are looking to host the memorial cup in 2017.
City Council will be asked Monday evening to give approval for administration to sign a letter of understanding between the Windsor Spitfires and the city.
The letter of understanding outlines a commitment by the City of Windsor to reserve the WFCU Centre for the required dates to accommodate the event, and to ensure the necessary technical and support systems are in place.
The Spitfires will find out in May if they are successful.
