We first reported on this story on Friday, and have since received greater detail from a news tip.
Throughout the year Cubs , Scouts and Ventures along with their friends and families work hard to collect pop cans. We take them to our “pop can trailer” normally chained and locked to a tree behind the Kingsville Legion on Division Rd. south. The money we get for the aluminum goes towards buying tents and camping equipment for our 24 Cubs, 20 Scouts and 8 Ventures ( as you know Scouts is a non profit charitable organization and we receive no outside funding.Wednesday evening we found out the chain had been cut and the pop can trailer was gone. It’s licence plate # is B93-66C. It’s a about 7ft long and 6ft wide and has tall light tan ply wood sides with a warn out blue 2nd kingsville logo on it (7ft tall). It has 2nd Kingsville logos on it and”popcans”on the back. The trailer was nearly full of flattened cans and we were preparing to bring it in to Zalev’s to cash in the aluminum. There was probably 450 lbs of cans at the time. Depending on the price of aluminum could have been worth ~ $300. We would really just like to have our trailer back, since we don’t have the funds to build up another trailer at this time. If anyone has seen this trailer or has information to its whereabouts, call Crime Stoppers as a report has been made to the Kingsville OPP.Mark Buis2nd Kingsville Cub Scout Leader
