Windsor Police have named this week bicycle safety and enforcement week with the aim to raise awareness on offences related to bicycle and e-bike safety issues.
This initiative was developed with the participation of the Windsor Bicycling Committee to bring attention to motor vehicle, bicycle and e-bike offences that create serious safety concerns for everyone on the roadway.bSome of these offences include:
Bicycles or e-bikes on the sidewalk which is a pedestrian safety concern.
Motor vehicles not yielding right of way when required.
Opening car doors into traffic
Bikes and e-bikes not stopping for stop signs and traffic lights.
Proper lighting and helmets on bikes and e-bikes.
Tinted windows that are too dark
