The Windsor Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation received a charitable donation this morning.
John Viecelli, donated $250,000 to the Cancer Program so that people in the community can get the best care close to home.
Viecelli recalls having conversations and Saturday lunches with his ill son-in-law. That experience was Viecelli’s incentive for donating to the Cancer Program.
The radiation treatment wing will be named after Viecelli and his family. The wing is where patients receive treatment from radiation machines.
The Cancer Centre currently has three radiation machines. Approximately 30 patients are treated per machine every day.
The funds donated today will help strengthen the services available in the Cancer Program at Windsor Regional Hospital.
