Despite rain, clouds and mud, the Rock N’Rodeo continues to be a big hit this long weekend.
Christine Bernauer, coordinator of the event, said it’s so much more than just your average rodeo. They not only have live bucking bronco’s, bull riding and steer wrestling but also a petting zoo, pony rides, a vendor village and even live entertainment.
Saturday featured headline artist Brett Kissel, along with Mike Ure who opened for him, and Crystal Gage during the day. The event was a hit, despite the piles of mud covering the grounds. Bernauer said if they hadn’t take a year off in between shows to make the improvements they did, they most likely would have had to cancel.
“We wanted to make the ground better,” said Bernauer. “However this week I think it goes down in history – not only have we had the coldest winter I think in history but I think this week we’ve had so much rain fall … but as you can see, everybody is having a great time, all the events are going, the rodeo is great, it’s very safe sure-footing for the horses and I haven’t heard anybody complain, everybody is having a great time.”
Luckily the event happens to be a rodeo so the mud and being outside is more than warranted. Bernauer said she thinks everyone is just tired of the winter and wanted to get out and have a good time.
