Yay for Strays Cat Cafe has opened their doors to all feline fanatics, in their new spot on Ottawa Street.

The first permanent cat cafe in town offers a variety of refreshments, snacks, and a cat boutique in the front end of the store. There is a cat-themed item for any variety someone is searching for in the store of Yay for Strays- from oven mitts to pens.

Cats are available for visiting in the back of the store, with two doors keeping the cats safely in their area while their human visitors may wash their hands in the room in between.

Yay for Strays Cat Cafe owner Chantelle Gaudette (middle) stands with her brother Cole Gaudette (left) and employee Kristen Dube.

Visitors who wish to visit the cats in the back can purchase time in the cat lounge in half-hour or hour intervals (with the opening day just offering half hours due to the demand). After signing a waiver and paying the fee for their desired time, and checking out the store and selecting a drink, customers can join the cats in the cat lounge.

The cats roam free in the cat lounge area to get to know their real personalities, and all are available for adoption. There are various places to sit with the felines, play with them, or just enjoy your time in the relaxed setting while following the ground rules listed.

Hours for Yay for Strays Cat Cafe are 10 am to 6 pm Mondays to Tuesdays, and Thursdays to Sundays. Check out the new establishment yourself and meet your new best friend at 1326 Ottawa Street. Keep up to date with what’s new on their Facebook page here.

Guests can order their refreshments at the front end of the store, and if they wish to purchase time with the cats, go through 2 sets of doors with a sink to wash their hands in between to enter the area with the animals.
