Essex County Council has authorized entering into a service agreement with a company that has offered to purchase Heritage Community Residence in Amherstburg.
The home, at 184 Victoria Street, currently provides residential support to 24 occupants, 22 of whom are subsidized by the county through the Residential Services Homes Program.
The program provides residential care, assistance with daily living activities and financial support to qualified individuals at 10 residences across the county that have agreements with the County of Essex.
The County was advised in December of 2023, that the current owner of the property had accepted a conditional offer to sell the home to 1000732973 Ontario Inc. The buyer submitted a letter to County Administration stating its intent to purchase the property and confirmed its desire to continue operating the home on the property as part of the County’s Program.
The County has received both a written intent, and verbal assurances, from the potential Buyer stating that it is committed to continue operating the home and providing care for the twenty-two subsidized residents.
