The Ottawa Street BIA and FedDev Ontario are bringing more lighting to alleys along Ottawa Street.
In an effort to increase visibility and safety for the community, a year ago, the Ottawa Street BIA applied to the Government of Canada for assistance with alleyway lighting upgrades.
As part of the process, an alleyway audit was performed by Windsor Police representative Barry Horrobin and the City of Windsor, with the assistance of Irek Kusmierczyk, Member of Parliament for Windsor—Tecumseh, former Ward 4 Councillor Chris Holt.
The Ottawa Street BIA was successful in their application and received a non-repayable contribution of $65,000 through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.
“This is just the first phase of lighting up our alleyways; we are looking forward to even more lighting in the future,” said Ettore Bonato, Chair of Ottawa Street BIA.
