The province has given the Greater Essex County District School Board the green light to award the tender for a new North Shore Elementary School, with an investment of $25.7 million, which includes additional funding of $3.3 million.

The new school will provide more student spaces for the growing student population in Tecumseh, as well as affordable child care spaces for local parents.

“The funding to replace D.M. Eagle Public School with the new North Shore Elementary School is phenomenal news for our community,” said Andrew Dowie, the MPP for Windsor-Tecumseh. “We’ve been waiting a long time for this day to come, and this investment will ensure families and students have access to a quality learning environment in the years ahead.”

Highlights of the project include 651 new student spaces and 73 new childcare spaces, four new childcare rooms.

The new school will be located at 13800 Tecumseh Road East in Tecumseh.
