The Windsor Regiment is an Armoured Reserve Unit of 31 Canadian Brigade Group, of the 4th Canadian Division and is headquartered in Windsor. The Regiment was formed on December 1, 1936 from the Essex Regiment (Tank) – the first and only armoured regiment in the Canadian Army at the time. The unit’s area of responsibility spans Windsor, St Clair and Essex County, with current and former members from communities across the region. The regiment has nearly 140 members – the vast majority of whom are part-time Reserve soldiers – and deploys troops to international stability operations and in support of Canadian communities during emergencies like floods and wildfires.
