Riverside Rocks Festival Planned For Saturday To Celebrate 100 Years Of The Riverside Community

Riverside turned 100 in 2021, but they are celebrating this Saturday.

The town of Riverside is the youngest of the border cities and was incorporated in 1921 before being annexed by Windsor in 1966.

To celebrate, Wyandotte Street will be closed from Jefferson to Thompson and westbound to Ford from 6:00pm to 11:00pm for a variety of activities broken down into three hubs.

Hub 1

Will be located between Thompson and Villaire and will feature the decades of 50s, 60s and 70s.

  • Primarily Rock and Roll.
  • We will have a DJ (Dynamic Sound), playing music from that area.
  • Bike decorating contest will take place in this Hub
  • Dance contest, i.e. jitterbug.
  • Hula Hoops, hopscotch, skipping
  • Popcorn machine will be located in this area

Hub 2

Will be located from the east side of Villaire to the west side of Reedmere and will be a night market with vendors.  The activities below will take place in the parking lots within this Hub.

  • Corn Hole Competition
  • Beer Pong
  • Giant Jenga

Hub 3

Will be located from the east side of Reedmere to Glidden and will feature the decades of 20s, 30s and 40s.

  • Primarily Roaring Twenties, Rum Running Thirties and Big Band forties.
  • The Show mobile will be located here.
  • There will be a two dance contests, Charleston and Swing.
  • Run Runners will be putting on two shows.
  • There will be a DJ at this location.
  • Chairs will be put out for seating to watch the shows.
  • There will be a Fashion Through the Ages Show which will be dependent on patrons to provide the costuming and agree to model in a fashion show.
  • The pet contest will also take place in this hub.

Shuttle bus service available to and from parking lots located at Riverside Sport Centre at 6865 Ontario Street.  Proceeds to benefit the Windsor Police Service Camp Brombal for Kids.
