New Chief Librarian Named For The Essex County Library

The Essex County Library has announced that Adam Craig is the new Chief Librarian.

Craig, a lifelong resident of Essex County, comes to the Essex County Library from the Windsor Public Library, where he has worked as the Manager of Public Services since 2015.

He is well acquainted with the Essex County Library system, having worked as the Supervisor of the Ruthven Branch from August, 2011 to September, 2012, and as a Virtual Public Services Librarian from September, 2012 to July, 2015. While there, he expanded the Essex County Library’s presence on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and worked to develop the library’s visual identity.

“I am thrilled that our new Chief Librarian has such an extensive knowledge of our local library system and such deep roots in the Essex County community,” said Kristie Cronin, Acting CEO for the Essex County Library. “He is a passionate, versatile leader who will bring out the best in his employees while providing Essex County residents a library system in which they can all be proud.”

Craig earned his Honours Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Windsor in 2006 and completed his Masters of Library and Information Science from the University of Western Ontario in 2011. He also completed a program at the Northern Exposure to Leadership Institute in 2017.

He will officially take over his new duties effective September 12th.
