9 WAYS TO CELEBRATE CANADA DAY IN WINDSOR ESSEX

On July 1st (and the entire long week), people from all across Canadian communities are invited to come together to celebrate. The communities of Windsor Essex have planned a day of parades, celebrations and even a 5k run! Check out the community events below and even more ways to make your Canada Day Celebrations as spectacular as the fireworks that will be lighting up the skies!

  1. CHECK OUT A PARADE

Take in all the fun of Canada Day and where your red & white as you stroll the streets and see the magic, hear the sounds an be part of one of the parades across Windsor Essex including AmherstburgLakeshore, and Canada’s 155th Birthday parade in Windsor!

  1. FAMILY FUN

Whether its pony rides, arts and crafts, face paint or FREE cupcakes –there will be fun for all ages throughout Windsor Essex to celebrate Canada Day! Amherstburg will have a community mural project set up for all to participate plus Super Heroes roaming Toddy Jones Park. Kingsville will have bouncy castles live music and a Canada Day Cake! Lakeshore has a full afternoon and evening planned starting off with a parade at 3pm and ending with a fireworks show at 9:50pm plus enjoy ice cream and strawberries, a children’s petting zoo and Johnny Cash Tribute Band!

  1. GO FOR A RUN!

Join in the largest and most patriotic race in Canada! Run through the streets of Amherstburg decked out in your red and white in the Canada D’Eh 5K Run/Walk! This race sells out every year so register soon! All finishers get a Canada D’Eh Run Maple Leaf-inspired special edition Finishers Medal.

  1. CELEBRATE OUR WHISKY HISTORY

The Canada Day long weekend will bring the Hiram Walker 206th Birthday Celebration to Windsor’s historic Walkerville neighbourhood. On Friday July 1st and Saturday July 2nd, the City of Windsor is partnering with the Walkerville BIA to host the Hiram Walker 206th Birthday Celebration and the Walkerville Art Walk.

The two-day celebration will feature a wide array of activities, including the sculpture unveiling, the grand opening of a new historical exhibition, street closures, heritage walking tours, a children’s village, family activities, vendors, artists and artisans, live music, antique automobiles, and a fundraiser dinner to cap it all off.

  1. CELEBRATE WITH A BANG

It’ll be oog’s & aah’s for the entire family with FREE fireworks in three spots. Join us in Amherstburg, Lakeshore and Kingsville at dusk!

  1. GO LOCAL

  1. HAVE A SWEET TREAT

Satisfy your sweet tooth with free cupcakes in Amherstburg or Windsor, Canada Day cake in Kingsville and ice cream & strawberries in Lakeshore.

Explore the works from artists across the county at the Walkerville BIA Art Walk. Or browse and shop the creations and products of local artists and vendors at The Downtown Windsor Arts Fair taking place on Ouellette Ave and University Ave.

  1. HAVE A PINT

Go full on Canadian with a can of “Light EH! Lager” from Kingsville Brewing Co. You can also toast to Hiram Walker with “Hiram’s Heritage” Barrel Finished Scotch Ale, available exclusively at The Walkerville Brewery in 500ml commemorative bottles.
