Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Wednesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 155 new high risk cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Wednesday. Testing is still limited to high risk individuals only the province estimates actual COVID-19 cases are around 10 times higher than what is being reported.

Total Cases & Active Cases

Total overall cases increased from 40,378 on Tuesday, April 5th to 40,535 on Wednesday, April 6th.

There are 394 high-risk cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (increase of 94 active high-risk cases since yesterday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).

• 356,555 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+23 since yesterday)
• 344,516 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+31 since yesterday)
• 193,741 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+83 since yesterday)

Vaccination Percentages

• 86.4 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 83.5 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 51.0 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)

Deaths

There have been no additional deaths from COVID-19 and the local death toll stands at 595.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 47 hospitalizations today (increase of 1), and 2 of those hospitalizations are in the ICU (decrease of 1).
