Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Tuesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 152 new high risk cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Tuesday. Testing is still limited to high risk individuals only the province estimates actual COVID-19 cases are around 10 times higher than what is being reported.

Total Cases & Active Cases

Total overall cases increased from 41,089 on Monday, April 11th t0 41,242 on Tuesday, April 12th.

There are 382 high-risk cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (increase of 28 active high-risk cases since yesterday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).

  • 356,658 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+34 since yesterday)
  • 344,755 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+63 since yesterday)
  • 194,198 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+128 since yesterday)

Vaccination Percentages

  • 86.4 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
  • 83.5 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
  • 51.2 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of  0.1 per cent since yesterday)

Deaths

The Health Unit announced one additional death from COVID-19 bringing the local death toll to 598. They say a man in his 80s from the community passed away.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 55 hospitalizations today (decrease of 6), and 3 of those hospitalizations are in the ICU (increase of 1).
