Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Tuesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 106 new high risk cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Tuesday. Testing is still limited to high risk individuals only the province estimates actual COVID-19 cases are around 10 times higher than what is being reported.
Total Cases & Active Cases
Total overall cases increased from 40,265 on Monday, April 4th to 40,378 on Tuesday, April 5th.
There are 300 high-risk cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (decrease of 17 active high-risk cases since yesterday).
Vaccinations
Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).
- 356,532 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+18 since yesterday)
- 344,485 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+46 since yesterday)
- 193,658 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+65 since yesterday)
Vaccination Percentages
- 86.4 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 83.5 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 51.0 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)

Deaths
The Health Unit announced one additional death from COVID-19 bringing the local death toll to 595. They say a man in his 70s from a long-term care home passed away.
Hospitalizations
The Health Unit lists 46 hospitalizations today (increase of 2), and 3 of those hospitalizations are in the ICU (increase of 1).
