Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Tuesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 65 new high risk cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Tuesday. Testing is still limited to high risk individuals only the province estimates actual COVID-19 cases are around 10 times higher than what is being reported.

Total Cases & Active Cases

Total overall cases increased from 38,570 on Monday, March 14th to 38,634 on Tuesday, March 15th.

There are 211 cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (increase of 17 active cases since yesterday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).

  • 355,881 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+15 since yesterday)
  • 342,443 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+33 since yesterday)
  • 190,611 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+95 since yesterday)

Vaccination Percentages

  • 86.2 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
  • 83.0 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
  • 53.9 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)

Deaths

The Health Unit announced two additional deaths from COVID-19 bringing the local death toll to 587. They say a man in his 40s from the community passed away and a man in his 80s from a long term care or retirement home passed away.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 27 hospitalizations today (increase of 2), and 2 of those hospitalizations are in the ICU (decrease of 1).
