Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Thursday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 102 new high risk cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Thursday. Testing is still limited to high risk individuals only the province estimates actual COVID-19 cases are around 10 times higher than what is being reported.

Total Cases & Active Cases

Total overall cases increased from 39,796 on Wednesday, March 30th to 39,903 on Thursday, March 31st.

There are 362 cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (increase of 34 active cases since yesterday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).

• 356,402 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+29 since yesterday)
• 344,079 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+86 since yesterday)
• 193,061 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+171 since yesterday)

Vaccination Percentages

• 86.3 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 83.4 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 50.9 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)

Deaths

There have been no additional deaths from COVID-19 and the local death toll stands at 592.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 36 hospitalizations today (decrease of 5), and 2 of those hospitalizations are in the ICU (decrease of 3).
