Contractors for the Municipality of Lakeshore will begin dredging the northern section of Belle River on Friday, March 4th, 2022.

The work will take place between the mouth of the lake and the footbridge between First Street and West River Street and is expected to be completed by the end of March.

Officials say that access to the beach, river, and Lake St. Clair will be impacted throughout the duration of the dredging project.   Temporary fencing will be installed at the beach while boat access along this stretch of the river will be restricted at times.

The dredging work is intended to deepen the river, as well as improve water flow and drainage. Dredged material will be moved to the beach.
