Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Wednesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 44 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Wednesday. The Health Unit now only reports high-risk cases as testing eligibility is still limited.

Total Cases & Active Cases

Total overall cases increased from 37,150 on Tuesday, February 22nd to 37,193 on Wednesday, February 23rd.

There are 288 cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (decrease of 17 cases since yesterday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).

  • 355,119 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+95 since yesterday)
  • 340,186 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+175 since yesterday)
  • 186,937 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+276 since yesterday)

Vaccination Percentages

  • 86.0 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
  • 82.4 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
  • 53.1 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)

Deaths

The Health Unit announced one additional death from COVID-19 bringing the local death toll to 574. They say a woman in her 90s from the community passed away.

The Health Unit 34 hospitalizations today, and 8 of those hospitalizations are in the ICU (increase of 1).
