Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Wednesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 186 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Wednesday. The Health Unit now only reports high-risk cases as testing eligibility is still limited.

New & Total Cases

Total overall cases increased from 34,937 on Tuesday, February 1st to 35,124 on Wednesday, February 2nd.

There are 1,204 cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (decrease of 64 cases since yesterday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).

• 353,010 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+129 since yesterday)
• 335,047 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+271 since yesterday)
• 178,973 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+691 since yesterday)

Vaccination Percentages

• 85.5 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 81.2 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 51.2 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of 0.2 per cent since yesterday)

The Health Unit announced 3 additional deaths from COVID-19 bringing the local death toll to 554:

• 1 woman in her 50s from the community
• 1 man and 1 woman in their 70s from the community

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 67 hospitalizations today (decrease of 2), and 12 of those hospitalizations are in the ICU (decrease of 1).
