Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Tuesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 94 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Tuesday. The Health Unit now only reports high-risk cases as testing eligibility is still limited.
New & Total Cases
Total overall cases increased from 35,810 on Monday, February 7th to 35,908 on Tuesday, February 8th.
There are 656 cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (decrease of 16 cases since yesterday).
Vaccinations
Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).
- 353,720 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+118 since yesterday)
- 336,719 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+278 since yesterday)
- 181,515 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+406 since yesterday)
Vaccination Percentages
- 85.7 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 81.6 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 51.9 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)

Deaths
The Health Unit announced 4 additional deaths from COVID-19 bringing the local death toll to 569:
- 2 men in their 80s from the community
- 1 man in his 90s from the community
- 1 man in his 90s from a long-term care or retirement home
Hospitalizations
The Health Unit lists 68 hospitalizations today (decrease of 2), and 12 of those hospitalizations are in the ICU (increase of 2).
