Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Thursday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 158 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Thursday. The Health Unit now only reports high-risk cases as testing eligibility is still limited.

New & Total Cases

Total overall cases increased from 35,124 on Wednesday, February 2nd to 35,287 on Thursday, February 3rd.

There are 1,174 cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (decrease of 30 cases since yesterday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).

• 353,157 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+147 since yesterday)
• 335,301 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+254 since yesterday)
• 179,441 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+468 since yesterday)

Vaccination Percentages

• 85.6 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 81.3 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 51.3 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)

Deaths

The Health Unit announced 5 additional deaths from COVID-19 bringing the local death toll to 554:

• 1 woman in her 40s from the community
• 1 man in his 50s from the community
• 1 man and 1 woman in their 80s from the community
• 1 man in his 90s from the community

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 69 hospitalizations today (increase of 2), and 12 of those hospitalizations are in the ICU.
