Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Friday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 63 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Friday.

New & Total Cases

The Health Unit says 25 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 15 cases are community acquired, 3 cases are outbreak related, and the acquisition sources of 20 cases are still under investigation.

Total overall cases increased from 21,999 on Thursday December 2nd to 22,062 on Friday December 3rd.

There are 577 cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (decrease of 8 since yesterday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex):

• 335,409 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+516 since yesterday)
  • 17,459 people have received only their first dose of a vaccine (+281 since yesterday)
  • 317,950 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+235 since yesterday)
  • 29,664 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+1,873 since yesterday)
• A total of 683,023 vaccine doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+2,624 since yesterday)

Vaccination Percentages

• 76.5 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
  • 81.3 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 72.5 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) are fully vaccinated (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
  • 77.1 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 6.7 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (increase of 0.4 per cent since yesterday)

Note: The Health Unit says 438,001 people are living in Windsor and Essex County presently.

The Health Unit lists 21,012 total resolved cases.

That’s an increase of 71 resolved cases since yesterday.

Deaths

There have been no additional deaths from COVID-19 and the local death toll stands at 473.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 25 hospitalizations today: 15 people in acute care (increase of 3), and 10 people in the ICU (decrease of 1) with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
