Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Tuesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 38 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Tuesday.

New & Total Cases

The Health Unit says 15 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 7 cases are community acquired, 4 cases are outbreak related, 1 case is travel related, and the acquisition sources of 11 cases are still under investigation.

Total overall cases increased from 21,272 on Monday November 22nd to 21,310 on Tuesday November 23rd.

They say 340 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex (decrease of 6 since yesterday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex):

  • 328,926 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+160 since yesterday)
    • 13,298 people have received only their first dose of a vaccine (-93 since yesterday)
    • 315,628 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+253 since yesterday)
    • 15,268 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+1,188 since yesterday)
  • A total of 659,822 vaccine doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+1,601 since yesterday)

Vaccination Percentages

  • 75.0 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
    • 86.7 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 12+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
  • 72.0 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) are fully vaccinated (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
    • 83.2 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 12+) are fully vaccinated (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
  • 3.4 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (increase of 0.2 per cent since yesterday)

Note: The Health Unit says 438,001 people are living in Windsor and Essex County presently.

The Health Unit lists 20,501 total resolved cases.

That’s an increase of 43 resolved cases since yesterday.

Deaths

The Health Unit announced one additional death from COVID-19 bringing the local death toll to 469. They say a man in his 80s from the community passed away.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 19 hospitalizations today: 14 people in acute care (increase of 4), and 5 people in the ICU (decrease of 1) with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
