The information listed below is likely outdated and has been preserved for archival purposes.

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 22 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Wednesday.

New & Total Cases

The Health Unit says 3 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 4 cases are community acquired, 1 case is outbreak related, and the acquisition sources of 4 cases are still under investigation.

Total overall cases increased from 20,280 on Tuesday October 19th to 20,302 on Wednesday October 20th.

They say 211 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex (decrease of 5 since yesterday).

Variants of Concern

The Health Unit says 4,768 preliminary or confirmed variant of concern cases have been identified to date (increase of 43 since yesterday).

Variant case strains:

  • 1,839 of the total variant cases to date have been the Alpha variant (B.1.1.7)
  • 4 of the total variant cases to date have been the Beta variant (B.1.351)
