St. Joseph’s Catholic High School will reopen to students on Thursday, September 23rd, after a COVID-19 outbreak closed the school on Wednesday, September 15th.

“We have consulted closely with the Windsor Essex County Health Unit and have determined that students may begin to return to school and resume following their regular schedules on Thursday. The school has been inspected by the health unit, we have reviewed and completed our COVID-19 preparedness checklist, and have been approved to reopen,” said board Communications Coordinator Stephen Fields.

All staff members have been instructed to return to the school on Wednesday, September 22nd, in order to prepare for the reopening on Thursday.

Fields says that students who were confirmed cases, and any students who were identified as high-risk contacts, have now completed their isolation period requirements and have been cleared by the health unit to return to school.

Any students who were identified as high-risk contacts and have received a letter from the health unit directing them to continue isolating until a date later than September 23rd must continue following those directions.

The health unit will be holding a vaccination clinic at the school on Friday for anyone 12 or older who wants to be immunized against COVID-19. More details about that clinic will be announced in the coming days.
