Severe thunderstorms uprooted trees, downed tree limbs and caused property damage in a small area of Windsor near Central Avenue and Tecumseh Road East, Saturday night.

City of Windsor Forestry department crews were out in force Sunday morning cleaning up tree debris, while workers from Enwin Utilities worked to repair downed power lines.

Many windsoriteDOTca readers reported storm damage on streets including George, Leonard, Aubin, Meldrum, Chandler, Meighen, and others.

On social media, readers who live in the area described the storm as sounding like a freight train, while others witnessed high winds that caused trees to sway and break.

There’s no word from Environment Canada at this time if the storm involved a tornado.

A traffic signal arm at George and Tecumseh was shifted.
