The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has expanded booking for second dose COVID-19 vaccine appointments as of Wednesday.

They say anyone who received their first Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine dose on or before April 18th will be eligible to book their second dose vaccine appointment at a mass vaccination clinic, local pharmacy, or healthcare provider office that is administering vaccines.

Previously only people who received their first dose on or before March 31st could book an appointment in Windsor Essex. The province announced last Friday they were expanding second dose booking for those who had received a second dose on or before April 18th, however the Windsor Essex County Health Unit maintained a cutoff date of March 31st until today in order to give priority groups more time to book.

The Health Unit says appointments are still required for first and second COVID-19 vaccine doses at all of the mass vaccination clinics, participating pharmacies, and participating healthcare providers. No walk-ins will be permitted.

They say you not need to receive the second vaccine at the same location as your first.

You can book an appointment at a mass vaccination clinic through the online booking system or by calling the vaccination booking call centre at 226-773-2200 to make an appointment.
