The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 7 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Thursday, bringing the local total to 16,753 (a net increase of only 2 cases to the total due to a data cleanup).
New Cases
The Health Unit says 7 new cases are reported for Thursday but the net increase to the total is only 2 cases due to a data cleanup. Their method for reducing the total due to data cleanups involves reducing the current day’s recorded new case count. Therefore the Health Unit removed 5 cases from their system’s total during the data cleanup and that’s represented in the new cases number Thursday.
There are however 7 new cases in Windsor-Essex.
Of the 7 new cases, the Health Unit says 1 case is community acquired, 4 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 1 case is travel related outside of North America, and the acquisition source of 1 case is still being investigated by the Health Unit’s contact tracing staff.
Cases increased from 16,751 on Wednesday June 16th to 16,753 on Thursday June 17th and 72 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.
