37 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex On Monday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 37 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Monday, bringing the local total to 13,809.
Today’s New Cases
Cases increased from 13,772 on Sunday March 28th to 13,809 on Monday March 29th and 293 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.
The Health Unit says 1 case is outbreak related, 10 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 9 cases are community acquired, and 17 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.
The Health Unit says 61 preliminary or confirmed variant of concern cases have been identified to date (5 more today).
Vaccinations
Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today:
- 72,851 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+1,779 since yesterday)
- 60,768 people have received only their first dose of a vaccine (+1,778 since yesterday)
- 12,083 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+1 since yesterday)
- A total of 84,934 vaccine doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+1,780 since yesterday)

There are two vaccination programs for different age groups at the moment:
- People 70 years of age and older
- Those aged 70 or older can book using the Health Unit’s system.

- People aged 60 or older (AstraZeneca pharmacy pilot)

Resolved Cases
The Health Unit lists 13,114 total resolved cases.
That’s an increase of 9 resolved cases today.
Deaths
There have been no additional deaths from COVID-19 today and the local death toll stands at 402.
Hospitalizations
The Health Unit lists 16 hospitalizations today: 11 people in acute care, and 5 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
