1 New Death, 39 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex On Friday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 39 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Friday, bringing the local total to 13,338.
Today’s New Cases
Cases increased from 13,299 on Thursday March 11th to 13,338 on Friday March 12th and 296 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.
The Health Unit says 5 cases are outbreak related, 10 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 1 case is community acquired, and 23 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.
Vaccinations
Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today:
- 13,395 people have received only their first dose of the vaccine (+1,510 since yesterday)
- 11,818 people have received both doses of the vaccine (full series) (+43 since yesterday)
- A total of 37,031 doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+1,596 since yesterday)

Resolved Cases
The Health Unit lists 12,646 total resolved cases.
That’s an increase of 23 resolved cases today.
Deaths
The Health Unit announced one additional death from COVID-19 today bringing the local death toll to 396. They say a woman in her 70s from the community passed away.
Hospitalizations
The Health Unit lists 35 hospitalizations today: 27 people in acute care (2 less today), and 8 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
