The parking lot along the McHugh soccer fields on McHugh Street will be closed starting Monday March 1st, 2021 as preparations to build a 30-metre pedestrian bridge west of the parking lot that will connect the two existing trails on either side of Little River gets underway.

“Windsor City Council has more than doubled our investment in parks, trails and playgrounds since 2018,” said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens. “We recognize the value of well-connected outdoor spaces and are fully committed to adding safe and accessible infrastructure like the McHugh bridge that help create new opportunities for residents to be active.”

This project mirrors another bridge construction project in Teedie Park that is already underway.

“The second pedestrian bridge being built over the Little River drains will be a great addition to the neighbourhood,” said Ward 7 Councillor Jeewen Gill. “Residents will be able to enjoy a new connection between two existing popular trails which will enable greater leisure and convenience.”

The parking lot will remain closed for approximately three weeks. The McHugh bridge construction is expected to be completed May 31st, 2021, weather permitting.
