11 New Deaths, 288 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex On Wednesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 288 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Wednesday, bringing the local total to 10,278.

Today’s New Cases

Cases increased from 9,990 on Tuesday January 12th to 10,278 on Wednesday January 13th and 2,812 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 19 cases are outbreak-related, 20 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 5 cases are community acquired, and 244 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.

Recoveries

The Health Unit lists 7,229 total recoveries.

That’s an increase of 126 recoveries today.

Deaths

There have been 11 new deaths from COVID-19 today bringing the local death toll to 237.

The Health Unit says:

• 9 are from long-term care and retirement homes
  • A man in his 60’s
  • Four women and a man in their 80’s
  • Two women and a man in their 90’s
• 2 are from the community
  • A woman in her 50’s
  • A man in his 70’s

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 99 hospitalizations today: 81 people in acute care (1 less today), and 18 people in the ICU (1 less today) with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
