1 New Death, 135 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex On Sunday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has announced 135 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Sunday, bringing the local total to 6,880.

Cases increased from 6,745 on Saturday December 26th to 6,880 on Sunday December 27th and 1,580 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 24 cases are outbreak related, 1 case is a household contact of a confirmed case, and 110 cases are still being investigated.

They say 5,184 people locally have recovered (an increase of 57 recoveries today).

As of Sunday, the Health Unit is reporting one new death from COVID-19, bringing the local death toll to 116. The Health Unit says a woman in her 80’s from the community passed away.

Hospitalizations

As of Sunday, the Health Unit lists 79 hospitalizations: 62 people in acute care, and 17 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
