The City of Windsor is making improvements to McKee Park on the west end and is looking for input.
The McKee Park boat ramp is one area already being improved in the park. It had to be closed earlier this year when water levels made the ramp unsafe. It has since re-opened, as water levels subsided and some needed improvements were completed, but going forward there is more work to be done.
Other improvements to the park include work to the shoreline to protect against high water levels, which are tending to be higher than normal more often than normal. The City of Windsor Parks Department is currently exploring options that will preserve the shoreline in addition to providing a better recreational experience for park users overall. Proposed park improvements include rock revetment/shoreline stabilization, a new boardwalk with a lookout observation deck, benches and further work to the boat ramp.
Partial funding will be provided by The Community Benefits Plan for the Gordie Howe International Bridge.
