City And University Honour Local Ukrainian Flight PS752 Victims

The City of Windsor and the University of Windsor unveiled a collection of commemorative trees and benches on the riverfront to honour the memory of five local victims of Ukrainian Flight PS752.
The five were among 176 people killed when the plane they were on was shot down during liftoff from Tehran on January 8th, 2020.
The names of Doctoral student of civil engineering Pedram Jadidi; biology research assistant Samira Bashiri and her spouse Hamidreza Setareh Kokab, a PhD candidate in mechanical engineering; and civil engineering doctoral student Zahra Naghibi and her spouse Mohammad Abbaspour Ghadi will not be forgotten.
Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens and University of Windsor President Dr. Robert Gordon were joined today on the riverfront by members of the local Iranian community in honouring the lost family, friends and colleagues.
Along with two trees and three park benches, plaques bearing the names of those lost, along with a note on the tragic event, have also been installed as part of the memorial.
