OPP are investigating a serious injury accident that occurred on Highway 401 east of Bloomfield Road.

Police say around 3pm, a tractor trailer and a passenger motor vehicle collided in the eastbound lanes, sending the lone occupant driver of the passenger vehicle to hospital with life threatening injuries.

OPP confirmed Thursday that the driver, 28-year-old James Baillie of West Perth, Ontario, has since died from injuries sustained in the collision. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 between Bloomfield Road and Communications Road were closed for approximately 5 hours as the OPP‘s Technical Collision Investigators completed the investigation.
