23 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex As Of Saturday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has confirmed 23 additional cases of COVID-19 as of Saturday, bringing the local total to 866. They said 478 people locally have recovered.
Cases increased from 843 on Friday May 22nd to 866 on Saturday May 23rd.
Saturday’s new cases represent the highest number of new daily cases reported since April 21st’s twenty-four new cases.
The Health Unit says there have been no additional deaths due to COVID-19 as of Saturday and the local death toll stands at 63.
They say outbreaks have now ended at these long-term care and retirement homes:
- Riverside Place
- Berkshire Care Centre
- Extendicare Southwood Lakes
- Banwell Gardens
The Health Unit says there are still ongoing outbreaks at four long-term care and retirement facilities:
- Extendicare Tecumseh (St. Alphonse)
- Regency Park
- Sun Parlour Home
- Heron Terrace
The Health Unit says 15,019 total tests have been conducted since testing began locally and 929 tests are pending as of Saturday.
