15 New Cases Of COVID-19, One Additional Death, In Windsor Essex As Of Tuesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has confirmed 15 additional cases of COVID-19 as of Tuesday morning, bringing the local total to 656. They said 210 people locally have recovered.

Cases increased from 641 on Monday May 4th to 656 on Tuesday May 5th.

The Health Unit says there has been one additional local death due to COVID-19 bringing the local death toll to 55. Dr. Wajid Ahmed, Medical Officer of Health, says a female in her 90s, who was a resident of long-term care, passed away.

Of the 55 total, local deaths, the Health Unit says 41 deaths have been residents of long-term care and retirement homes.

The Health Unit says eight long-term care homes are under outbreak: the Village of St. Clair, AMICA, Sun Parlour, Lifetimes on Riverside, Franklin Gardens, Heron Terrace, Country Village Homes, and Extendicare Southwood Lakes.

As of Tuesday morning 8,386 tests have been conducted and 1,278 tests are still pending.
