Windsor Regional Hospital is confirming the first death from COVID-19.
It happened on Tuesday.
Dr. Wajid Ahmed, Medical Officer of Health for Windsor-Essex says the first local death was a male in his 80’s with underlying chronic conditions who was admitted to hospital with respiratory issues.
The man was admitted to the ICU and died Tuesday.
Dr. Ahmed says the man had travelled to Michigan recently.
