The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has confirmed 20 additional cases of COVID-19 as of Monday morning, bringing the local total to 482. They say 80 people locally have recovered.

There have been no new deaths as of Monday morning.  The Health Unit says the local death toll stands at 27.

Cases increased from 462 on Sunday April 19th to 482 on Monday April 20th.

The Health Unit says 3,916 tests have been conducted as of Monday and 687 tests are still pending.

Dr. Wajid Ahmed, Medical Officer of Health says it’s been exactly one month since Windsor-Essex’s first case of COVID-19 was announced and we are making progress.

“We are coming close to the finish line every day but we are not there yet,” he said.  “Any wrong move can send us back to the start.”

Dr. Ahmed announced the launch of ehealthwindsoressex.ca, a new online tool that will soon offer a virtual walk-in clinic, an online COVID-19 self-assessment tool, and a local healthcare services directory.  He said further details about the new website will be provided Tuesday.
