The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation is closing all casinos in Ontario, including Caesars Windsor.

OLG says the health and safety of casino customers and employees is a priority and all casinos will be closed within 24 hours.

“OLG, working with all our casino service providers, is confirming that an orderly shutdown of all casinos across Ontario has begun,” said OLG officials in a release to the media. “We expect the closure to be complete within approximately 24 hours.”

“This action is consistent with the recommendations of the province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health related to new precautionary measures for COVID-19.”

OLG facilities include Casino Ajax, Casino Woodbine, Casino Rama, Elements Casino – Mohawk, Gateway Casinos – Innisfil, Great Blue Heron Casino, Casino Niagara, Fallsview Casino, Gateway Casinos in Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, and Thunder Bay, Rideau Carleton Raceway Casino, Shorelines Casinos in Belleville, Peterborough, Thousand Islands, and Slots in Kawartha Downs, Caesars Windsor Elements Casinos in Brandford, Flamboro, and Grand River, Cascades Casino Chatham, Playtime Casino Hanover, Starlight Casino Point Edward, and Gateway Casinos in Clinton, London, Sarnia and Woodstock.

The OLG has not yet set a date for reopening.

Caesars Windsor’s shutdown will start with the closure of the gaming floor at 4:00 am Monday, March 16 and will have all hotel guests departing by 12:00 pm Monday, March 16.

Due to the closure, the following concerts will be rescheduled with new dates to be determined:

Ice Cube                    March 26
Pitbull                        March 29
REO Speedwagon      April 3
Jason Derulo             April 10

For all postponed shows, Caesars says ticketholders can hold onto their tickets to be honoured once new dates are announced. Refunds may be requested for any postponed shows and are to be handled through the point of purchase. Officials say at this time all future Colosseum shows will remain scheduled on their original date until further notice.

They say hotel guests will be contacted via email or phone as soon as possible and the reservation will be automatically cancelled. For more information, you’re asked to call 1-800-991-8888 or email [email protected].
