New City Hall Needs Security Services

The new city hall is going to cost $180,000 to keep safe.

A report going to City Council during their budget meetings says that while the old city hall did not have security, the new larger building presents several security issues.

Those include a revised customer service model, a significant increase in areas with public access, an increase in building entry points, reduced visibility of public activity, the introduction of public events in the lobby, and an overall larger facility.

“This activity combined with its location in the downtown core has resulted in an identified need for security personnel to ensure the safety and security of the public and staff,” the budget report reads.

City Council will debate the 2020 budget on Monday, January 27th, 2020, starting at 10am.
