The Essex Region Conservation Authority has issued a Flood Warning for the Municipality of Leamington.
The area impacted by this is the Lake Erie shoreline between Wheatley Harbour and Point Pelee National Park.
Due to sustained winds in the range of approximately 30 km/hr out of the southeast direction, there is significant wave activity on Lake Erie causing flooding in the southeast Leamington area. Water has already approached the centreline of the roadway along a portion of Cotterie Park Road. This area along with the
entire stretch of shoreline between Wheatley Harbour and Point Pelee National Park could continue to be impacted through this afternoon and potentially into the evening as winds shift. The current and forecasted conditions have the potential to continue to cause flooding, damaging waves, and nearshore erosion for the
area already being impacted.
This flood warning is in effect until 12pm Friday, January 10th, 2020.
