The 20th annual ATHENA celebrated their 20th anniversary of  the scholarship program Friday afternoon at St. Clair College Centre for the Arts. A luncheon honouring the outstanding student recipients was held with special speaker Senator Gwen Boniface making a return to the ATHENA stage after 15 years.

As explained by the ATHENA website: “The ATHENA Scholarship Fund Windsor identifies and provides scholarships to post-secondary students who excel academically, exhibit extensive community involvement and serve as outstanding leaders, while also assisting girls and women to achieve a better quality of life and reach their full potential as leaders…The ATHENA Scholarship Program is supported by generous donations from private citizens, corporations, professions, academic institutions and community organizations.”

Loretta Stoyka, President and Founder of the ATHENA Scholarship Fund (Windsor) gets emotional as a video of her son, Matt, is shown. He announced he will be donating $20,000.00 towards a scholarship in Loretta’s name for a scholarship running 4 years.
