Windsor Fire & Rescue Services will conduct a mock vehicle rollover for the general public at Lowe’s Home Improvement in East Windsor this Saturday.
With school back in session soon, this will provide the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the potential consequences of impaired or distracted driving and speeding.
“We want to remind students and adults that making smart but very simple decisions can easily prevent tragedies like these crashes from happening in and around our city,” advises Fire Chief Stephen Laforet. “Everyone has a role to play.”
The mock rollover will display what one vehicle in an impaired driving crash involving a fatality could look like. Windsor Fire & Rescue will respond to the mock rollover using all of the tools necessary to extricate and treat the victim(s).
Officials hope that by demonstrating a realistic rollover involving student peers, they can also encourage these same students and adults to think twice before getting behind the wheel or getting into a vehicle with someone who has been drinking, using drugs or is distracted. The consequences can be deadly.
It runs from 11am to 3:30pm.
